Atlas Copco – Launching world-class custom engineering workshop


Objective:

To raise Atlas Copco’s profile in the oil and gas sector and engage with the media that cover it. This came following the company’s significant investment in expanding its custom engineering workshop for the oil and gas industry.

Approach:

Technical Publicity proposed a press event to mark the official opening of the facility. Senior company personnel were also scheduled to attend the launch event. This would give key journalists in the oil and gas sector an opportunity to conduct on-site interviews, tour the facility and learn about the company’s role as a global centre of excellence in creating bespoke packaged compressed air and nitrogen solutions for the international oil and gas industry.

Despite having just over four weeks to plan and deliver the event (with two weeks being lost to Christmas and New Year’s) the Technical Publicity team was able to pitch the story and get commitment from 12 journalists. 

All press materials, and the presentation that was delivered by the company spokespeople, were created by Technical Publicity as well as an internal briefing document that was shared amongst Atlas Copco personnel to prepare them in advance of the press event.

Result:

The event ran very smoothly and many follow-up opportunities were created as a result. So far close to 40 pieces of coverage have been generated across key UK-based international oil and gas publications. This is reflected in a strong ROI of 29:1.
